Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization with its Head Office in Oslo, Norway. Since its foundation in 1939, NPA has emphasized programmes of humanitarian assistance, emergency assistance during natural disasters, and long-term development. For implementation of the NPA Humanitarian Disarmament Programme in Tajikistan, we currently seek applicants for following position:

 

Post title:                                            Information Management Assistant

Duty station:                                      Dushanbe, Tajikistan (with frequent/extended travels to field locations)

Description

 

The position requires an information management and computer background. A suitable background may come from a results-focussed International Non-Governmental (NGO) or commercial work. Good communications and diplomacy skills are required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The IM Assistant is a function within the operations department with a main responsibility on assisting with reporting and recording operational data and maintaining a technical database on mine action activities. The IM Assistant will assist the Internal QA/QC Officer in Tajikistan with the following duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Assist NPA’s Task Supervisors in submitting daily field reports into NPA’s database and to the TNMAC database.
  • Quality Control (QC) of submitted field daily reports in the NPA database and the TNMAC database
  • Assist the IM Officer to ensure that all relevant programme data is reported according to the reporting mechanisms established by the NPA Operational Department, NPA Head Office and TNMAC.
  • Work together with the IM Officer and other operational staff to further develop NPA Quality Management and monitoring systems for land release operations.
  • Assist the IM Officer in training and competence development needs, develop training plans, and execute on-going training for operational staff in the programme.
  • Assist the IM Officer to develop ICT knowledge and mapping skills within the programme.
  • Care for the IM tools in the field and ensure that all IT equipment in the field remains in proper working order.
  • Abide by all NPA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform any other task or duty as assigned by the Technical Advisor or the Country Director.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Understanding and knowledge of GIS (Geographical Information Systems);
  • Capable of working independently and in groups and in remote locations;
  • At least 3 years of progressive working experience in any reputable organization or enterprise in the field of data management and database development;
  • Working experience in mine action programs would be an asset;
  • SharePoint knowledge and experience;
  • Fluency in English, Russian and Tajik.
